JOBS FUND REVIEW FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The Review investigated five projects, directed to Indigenous people and communities and funded under, Jobs Fund Round 1 and Round 2 Projects. The Jobs Fund was intended to reduce the unemployment duration of retrenched workers; assist the job retention and employment viability among disadvantaged groups and regions; build the national skills and capacity base for all Australians and improve transitions into further education, training and employment; and ensure support for individuals and regions particularly vulnerable during economic downturns.

Our study looked at whether the projects had contributed to or are likely to contribute to those objectives. Five communities were visited in regional and remote Australia and the report was presented to DEEWR in April 2011.
